Healthy living environment through smart humidification

A large healthcare provider in Zeeland had problems with the humidity in a healthcare center.

Residents stay here 24 hours a day, with an average indoor temperature of around 23 degrees. In the winter, humidity levels below 24% RH were measured. This caused many complaints among residents who are often extra susceptible to diseases.

What were the requirements:

  • The system had to fit into the existing climate system
  • Energy efficient
  • Low maintenance

After our experience with a number of B&B Humidifiers®, we received the following nice response from the head of housing:

"And for me it confirms once again that your product was the right choice. Certainly in combination with our ambitions for gas-free buildings with all-electric installations through heat pumps."

The solution

In this situation, the B&B Humidifier® comes into its own. Due to its low connection power, a standard 16 ampere electrical group can be used and no major adjustments to the duct work need to be made.

To complete the project nicely, we decided, in consultation with the customer, to install a PE duct section with an inspection hatch.

By using the smart control developed by BBHUM B.V., the adiabatic cooling effect that occurs when water is sprayed is kept under control.

The result

No more complaints from residents due to low humidity in the indoor climate.

The following equipment is installed:

  • twice the B&B Humidifier® LBK20L
  • one time reverse osmosis system
  • one time a UV lamp

Maintenance cycle is once a year.
